What had started as a few old friends trying to recreate some childhood memories, evolved into an event that is sure to create a bond for their families and friends for generations to come.
In early 2013, Todd Eisenberg, Mitch Gross, Phil Hirshman, Jeff Rubin and Gil Wolchock began casual conversations about traveling from all corners of the country to reconvene in our old neighborhood of Albidale to see if our middle-aged bodies could endure some street hockey. That little idea mushroomed into a hugely successful summer charity event and local reunion that has raised nearly $35,000 combined in it’s first 3 years.
After supporting charities such as the American Cancer Society, Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation and the Fox Chase Cancer Center, we are proud to focus our efforts on raising money for The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation.
This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, June 12th from 7 AM to 4 PM at Willow Grove Day Camp, our summer home away from home as kids. The day will be filled with fun activities, surprise appearances, live music, and great food for the entire family on the beautiful grounds of WGDC.
The AO5K RUN will be begin at 8:00 AM. Please plan on coming early. The puck will be dropped for the STREET HOCKEY GAME at 10:30 AM. A FAMILY SOFTBALL GAME to all attending will begin at 2:30 PM. Please bring your gloves!
There will be organized events for children of all ages, the camp will supply lifeguards for the pools (with huge water-slides) and the lake will be available with canoes, paddle-boats and fishing. There is a huge playground, basketball courts, soccer fields, volleyball courts, tennis courts, gaga courts, miniature golf,a plethora of tetherball courts, and PONY RIDES. Semi-private changing facilities are available.
Awesome food and beverages will be supplied all day capped off with some amazing desserts including some tasty treats.
This day has evolved into a wonderful FAMILY EVENT. We are so excited to see everyone in June!
GOOD DAY, GOOD HOCKEY!!
